2022 Big Apple Project

The Big Apple Project celebrated the local apple industry and 20 Hawkes Bay artists in a large public art project. This project was a collaboration between Arts Inc Heretaunga and Studio Benega with core funding from Hastings district council.

Not only does an apple represent health (I have degrees in nutrition and food science) but it also represents happiness which is what my painting is all about. When I moved to Hawke's Bay from Wellington in 2007, I was inspired to paint the magnificent scenery around me. My Big Apple is a tribute to over 40 varieties of Hawke's Bay Apples in the region which are ever present as we go about our daily lives.

Hastings District Council Commission

As a result of the overwhelming response to The Big Apple Project I was commissioned by the Hastings District Council to paint another apple for public display in the region.
